PATRICK WACK

Patrick Wack was born in 1979 in Cannes, France, and raised in Paris.

His educational background is in economics and linguistics. He received his BA in Foreign Languages (English/German) and MA in Business Administration from the Paris Business School (ESCP-EAP) in 2005. After spending several years in the United States, Sweden and Germany, he left his marketing position in the software industry to pursue an interest in photography.

Fully self-taught, he first started shooting in Berlin, Germany, for fashion and portrait clients before moving to Shanghai, where he currently focused on portraiture and editorial photography.

Wack works with a number of commercial clients around Asia and is also active in the field of photojournalism as a member of the renowned German agency LAIF. He has shot features for The Sunday Times in Fukushima and The Sunday Telegraph in the DPRK. He has also been published in well-known magazines such as Monocle, Tatler, Courrier International, Elle, Vogue and Travel & Leisure.

In early 2014, Patrick Wack published Une Nouvelle Célébration: Portrait(s) de Chongqing [A New Celebration: Portrait(s) of Chongqing], a collection of photographic and written impressions of Chongqing, in collaboration with Pierre Vinclair, a Shanghai-based French author and philosopher.
