Wang Dawei (b. 1984, Shanghai) is a Chinese painter whose practice explores the intersection of everyday banality and poetic transformation. He received his BA in Fine Arts from Shanghai Normal University in 2009 and completed his MFA in Painting at the same institution in 2015.
Since his first solo exhibition at FQ Projects in Shanghai in 2011, Wang has maintained a consistent presence in the contemporary art landscape. His work has been featured in solo presentations at venues including FQ Projects (2011, 2013, 2014, 2017), Keyi Gallery in Beijing (2021), and most recently at Shin Gallery in New York with "Banal Dreams and Poetic Realities" (2023).
Wang's work has been included in group exhibitions at notable institutions such as the Museum of Contemporary Art Shanghai (2009), and galleries in New York including Fou Gallery and Upstream Gallery (2020, 2023), as well as Touchstone Gallery in Washington DC (2020).
